Dr. Elizabeth (Beth) Hussey has lived in the mid-Missouri area most of her life. She is a 1979 graduate of Fayette High School in Howard County, and has her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Missouri. She received her DVM degree in 1989 from the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine. She was employed as an associate veterinarian at Horton Animal Hospital-Central until 1999, when original founder Dr. Jack Horton retired, and Dr. Hussey then bought into the practice as a partner. With the retirement of long-time local veterinarian Dr. John Williams, Dr. Hussey became sole owner of the practice.

Practice ownership has brought lots of challenges and responsibilities, but Beth has always enjoyed the administrative side as well as the medical side. She shares her farm in Rocheport, Missouri with Carmine, an orange tabby cat and Emma the dog. Her avocation is riding dressage, and her stable currently consists of two Thoroughbred and one Hanoverian/Thoroughbred cross geldings. You can hear Dr. Hussey as the voice of “The Pet Place” every Saturday morning at 8:10 a.m. on KFRU 1400 AM. She also serves on the Boone County Vicious Dog Advisory Board, and as a board member of the Missouri Review. Her professional focus is on wellness and healthy aging in pets. An avid science fiction fan, Dr. Hussey looks forward to a future where more and more illnesses can be prevented and treated, and the lifespan of our canine and feline friends can be greatly extended.
