Environmental Consciousness

At Horton Animal Hospital-Central, we do our best to lessen our ecological footprint by reducing, reusing and recycling everything we can. In the clinic, we recycle all paper, plastic, glass and cardboard materials. We have minimized the amount of paper handouts, and we have installed motion-sensor lights and programmable thermostats to cut down on electricity. Many of our clients donate old newspapers and towels to us for use in our cages. Do you have any other eco-friendly ideas for us to implement? Let us know!

Civic Responsibility

Giving back to the community is a big part of Horton Animal Hospital-Central’s overall mission. Owner Beth Hussey serves on the Vicious Dog Advisory Board, the Missouri Review Board and the Columbia/Boone County Board of Health. Horton-Central is the designated veterinarian for Boone County Animal Care, a local 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the rescue and placement of cats in the Columbia and Boone County area.

Horton Animal Hospital-Central also donates yearly to a number of worthwhile local causes, including Meals on Wheels, Job Point, the Kiwanis Clubs and Camp Kesem, which offers recreational camps for the children of parents with cancer.

Dr. Hussey is also the host of The Pet Place, a weekly call-in radio show on local station KFRU at 1400 AM from 8:10-8:50 on Saturday mornings.
